Our cities, towns, economies and communities are complex systems - we help solve their problems.
Since 2006, Geografia has used the techniques of complex systems analysis to figure out how we can plan for, develop and live in our cities, towns and regions. Our work has expanded all across Australia, as well as into SE Asia and Europe.
Our multidisciplinary team conducts research and stakeholder engagement to develop insights in demography, economics and spatial analysis, inspiring leaders and decision-makers to create a better future for communities around the world. We do this by bringing together experts in a range of fields, including economists, demographers, data scientists, social researchers and mappers.
We provide services in three main areas:
- Demography: By forecasting and analysing how our populations can and will change, we provide advice and strategies on how to plan for equitable and fair growth.
- Economics: Through both quantitative and qualitative studies, our economic models deliver reliable estimates on the consequences of a complex range of scenarios.
- Spatial Analysis: The geographical dimension of data analytics is something at the heart of our work. We use GIS expertise to add another level of sophistication to our work, often deploying this analysis through interactive websites and applications.
Specialisations: Demography, Economics, Spatial Analysis, Geospatial Applications Development, Data Analytics
Working with the Department of Health and Human Services (Victoria), we modelled the take up of a subsidy scheme for patients travelling to medical specialists to and from different parts of the State. The work combined our expertise in analytics, econometrics and GIS to derive a model to estimate future demand as the population grows and changes.
