Helping the world decide wisely
We believe that when data can flow securely between individuals, organizations and governments, wiser decisions can be made and better outcomes delivered for both business and society as a whole. The problem? Data sharing can be too legally complicated, risky and time-consuming for organisations to manage, at scale.
That’s why, Paul McCarney and Danny Gilligan set out to change the way organisations collaborate with data – to make it safer, more secure and more scalable.
Since launching in 2016, Data Republic has seen rapid adoption of their technology from major brands and service providers across Australia and the Asia Pacific, including banks, retailers, state governments and airlines. Data Republic’s technology now underpins a fast-growing ecosystem and network of over 200 organisations who leverage the governance framework and technology as an emerging standard for secure data sharing, globally.
Data Republic has offices in Sydney (HQ), Singapore and LA, and is backed by Westpac Reinventure, Qantas Loyalty, NAB Ventures, Qualgro and ANZ.
THE PROBLEM WE SAW
Managing data sharing between organizations is complicated.
Organizations have to protect privacy, information security and enter into legal negotiations each and every time. Things get complicated quickly – so very few companies are able to execute and scale data collaborations in a meaningful way.
Without data sharing – insights for business, governments and society fail to be unlocked.
HOW WE SOLVED IT
The Senate Platform
Data Republic’s Senate Platform revolutionizes data sharing between organizations by providing comprehensive legal, governance and licensing workflows for companies when sharing data.
Senate allows organizations to effectively govern data sharing opportunity and risk, at scale.

Data for Good –
The Minerva Collective
The Minerva Collective was launched by Data Republic in 2016 to help social impact organizations access and utilize data to help solve social problems. Data is exchanged and analysed using Data Republic’s secure data exchange platform and insights made available to charities on a not-for-profit basis. With the support of NGOs, private companies and university groups, The Minerva Collective is bringing data-driven insights to the not-for-profit sector.
The Minerva Collective increases the capacity of social impact organisations to utilise previously inaccessible data and solve issues facing society. They continue to drive social impact projects on Data Republic’s platform to give corporates and their employees an opportunity to support not-for-profits through joint data initiatives.
